Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this position is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness, repair, and maintenance of West Care facilities. This includes maintaining a safe, functional, and clean environment for staff, clients, and visitors. The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of tasks related to facility upkeep, including routine inspections, repairs, and general maintenance duties.
Essential Job Functions- Maintain the facility grounds and maintain buildings (interior & exterior) in a clean, safe, and efficient operating condition.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of supplies, donated items, and a tool control system.
- Assist Director to maintain, schedule and supervise clients assigned to perform duties associated with the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility and grounds.
- Respond to routine emergencies and make normal repairs.
- Define problems and provide written bids and assessments for anything that must be repaired or replaced to Program Director or designee.
- Respond to work orders daily and maintain records of completed tasks.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Experience in general semi-skilled maintenance and repair work, or as a building maintenance or construction trades worker.
- Experience working with individuals and groups in a confined setting is preferred.
- Must possess knowledge of common methods, practices and materials used in maintenance and repair work of buildings and building facilities.
- Must be familiar with the various tools used in building maintenance and repair work and their proper employment and care.
- Possession of a valid FL Class “E” Driver’s License.
- Must be able to qualify for West Care vehicle insurance.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Possible exposure to fumes, dust, wet/damp surfaces, and extreme hot and cold conditions.
- Possible need to climb ladders, work on uneven terrain, and inspect and work in confined spaces.
- Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected, but significantly more hours will be required from time to time. Completion of job duties may require working before and after normal working hours.
- Regular attendance is required. Being able to work as many hours as is necessary to complete job tasks is required and essential duty of this position.
