Overview
The Facilities Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all SPFC facilities, including the warehouse, offices, restrooms, and common areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position supports daily operations by performing routine sanitation, basic facility upkeep, restocking supplies, and assisting with maintenance duties as needed. The Facilities Support Specialist ensures all areas meet safety, health, and sanitation standards. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.
Schedule- Monday–Friday, Between: 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Facilities Cleaning & Sanitation
- Perform daily cleaning of offices, restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, and warehouse areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, surfaces, and high-touch points.
- Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the facility and ensure proper disposal.
- Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Clean interior and exterior building entrances, ensuring they remain presentable and safe.
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas used by staff, volunteers, and visitors.
- Assist with deep-cleaning projects as directed.
- Facilities & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform routine care and light maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Assist with trash pickup and removal around exterior property.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to leadership.
- Support keeping grounds functional, presentable, and clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain documentation and records in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Always maintain confidentiality.

- Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and all Federal and State regulations and local ordinances.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal staff and volunteers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Ability to use and learn a broad range of cleaning tools, technology, and equipment.
- Proficient in basic computer and communication skills.
- Commitment to and modeling of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s mission and values.
- High school diploma required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Prior janitorial, custodial, or facility experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and sanitation standards preferred.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required.
- Clean driving records.
- Ability to lift at least 60 pounds on occasion and repeatedly lift 25–45 pounds daily.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment, carts, and basic tools safely.
- Ability to drive a cargo van.
