Sail Future Academy invites applications for a Work Based Learning Transportation Specialist for our private high school. This hybrid position is responsible for driving the school bus in the morning and afternoon for a private high school.
About Sail Future AcademySail Future Academy is a purposefully disruptive educational model based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Our mission is to empower at‑risk students to achieve economic freedom and social mobility through an equitable and exceptional school model driven by character development and pragmatic, project‑based learning. In other words, we teach students how to solve real‑world problems by practically applying the skills and knowledge learned through dynamic classroom activities in real‑world culinary, construction, and maritime settings.
Sail Future Academy operates on a year‑round calendar with 5 terms. This calendar provides meaningful breaks to students and faculty throughout the year, as well as ample planning time for faculty to regroup and prepare high‑quality and individualized lesson plans for their students. Students attend class for 8‑9 weeks each term which is followed by a 2‑week break for students and a week of protected break time and a week of protected planning time for faculty.
Duties Include:- Monday‑Friday 6:30‑8:30am and 2:00‑4:30pm on active school days
- Driving a school bus to pick‑up and drop‑off of students each day
The faculty recruitment team is excited to review applications from candidates of all backgrounds, and are seeking candidates who possess the following:
- Ensure students are in proper uniform and have all necessary materials before departure.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment during transport, adhering to all traffic laws and school policies.
- Perform regular vehicle inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Report any concerns, incidents, or issues to appropriate school staff promptly. Establish positive relationships with students to foster a supportive and respectful environment.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; a CDL endorsement or willingness to obtain one is preferred.
- Prior experience working with teenagers is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and adhere to strict schedules.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with students and staff.
- Meticulous in ensuring all safety protocols and student requirements are met.
- Willingness to adapt to changing schedules or requirements as needed.
- Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with school policies.
- This is an hourly position receiving $25/hour
