Job Summary
Job Summary: The Food and Safety Coordinator at our Early Learning Center is responsible for all aspects of the onsite commercial kitchen, including but not limited to meal planning, receiving & storing of supplies, preparing meals for family-style dining in classrooms, dishwashing, and maintaining health and safety standards in accordance with the Department of Health, Pinellas County Licensing, and the Child Care Food Program.
EssentialFunctions
- Accept food deliveries from vendor(s).
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack as per assigned schedule and agency approved meal plan.
- Clean kitchen as meals are prepared.
- Distribute meals/snacks to classrooms for family style dining.
- Clean up after meals. Maintain kitchen at designated center so that it is clean and sanitary to ensure that it consistently passes Health Department inspections without violations.
- Know and practice Licensing and Department of Health requirements to ensure that center consistently passes inspections without violations.
- Communicate with Center Director and Facilities Manager on orders and deliveries of supplies to ensure that all necessary items are available for use and waste is minimized.
- Provide guidance and support to staff, addressing any issues or concerns regarding food and health safety.
- Support and participate in center events – children’s events, parent events and family events.
- Attend training sessions, conferences and staff meetings which foster personal growth and/or are required by the Agency, Licensing Board, Health Department, Child and Adult Care Food Program, or contracting agencies.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Reports to Center Director.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Required
- High School Diploma required, and work experience in a food service setting preferred.
- Childcare Food Program (CCFP) Food Service training, or willing to obtain upon hire.
- Fluent in English.
- Clean Level 2 Fingerprint Background Check (conducted by agency upon hire) maintained throughout employment.
- Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds, climb a step ladder, extend arms over head, grasp with hands, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, sit on floor.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a diverse audience of staff, volunteers and participants.
- Ability to use email.
- Ability to create an environment where children, parents, staff and volunteers are welcomed, respected and affirmed.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with regard to agency programs, staff, volunteers and participants.
- Ability to maintain and protect confidential information with regard to agency programs, staff, volunteers and participants.

Full-Time, 40 hours per week, year-round.
Weekly Schedule7am-3pm Monday - Friday
