Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Madeira Beach, Florida. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes for a construction company specializing in custom home builds. Responsibilities:

- Perform detailed journal entries and maintain the general ledger to ensure financial records are accurate and up-to-date.

- Reconcile accounts regularly to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.

- Oversee progress billing and handle coding activities across multiple rental properties.

- Manage and maintain five sets of books for various projects and transactions.

- Review and approve payment processes, ensuring allowances and budgets are verified before disbursement.

- Utilize Builder Trends and Excel to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.

- Collaborate with team members to optimize accounting procedures and enhance operational effectiveness.

- Conduct bookkeeping for rental properties and ensure compliance with financial standards.

- Handle diverse financing methods for projects, including bank financing and cash transactions.

- Support accounts payable processes and assist in ensuring proper documentation and approvals. Requirements - Strong proficiency in journal entries and general ledger management.

- Experience with Quick Books and other accounting software, including Builder Trends.

- Ability to perform account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.

- Familiarity with progress billing procedures and coding activities.

- Solid understanding of bookkeeping practices for rental properties.

- Proficiency in Excel, including basic import/export functions.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to adapt to varied financial processes and project-specific requirements.
