The Inventory Control Specialist (Stockkeeper) is responsible for the receipt, storage and issuance of supplies, parts and materials to all Metro Transit departments and facilities. Follows established methods and procedures in requisitioning, receipt, issuance, storage and inventory of materials, supplies and equipment to maintain the integrity of Metro Transit's inventory system. The nature of work may involve considerable physical effort and heavy lifting.
Candidates must have the ability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends and at multiple locations as the work shift and location is bid on a seniority basis. This position requires two years working with the following:
- Mechanical, electro‑mechanical, computer parts inventory or related products (e.g., car/truck parts, medical devices, and circuit boards).
- Using an inventory management program/system that allows the employee to manipulate the inventory by identifying, locating, receiving, issuing/selling, etc. Examples include SAP, Maximo, Infor, etc.
- Directly working with customers in either retail or wholesale environment.
Recruitment Type: This posting is open continuously and will establish a six‑month candidate pool for present and future openings.
What you would do in this job- Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse/stockroom by tracking and counting inventory, picking, putting away, and storing stock, labeling product and storage locations, storing hazardous material and waste, and safely operating MHE; maintain work area in accordance with required safety standards.
- Ensure material received is accurately inventoried against packing lists or labels, receives IAW with hazardous materials law, and identifies high‑priority deliveries for appropriate action.
- Ensure materials are properly issued by using interface tools such as radio frequency scanners, reference parts manuals, and vendor websites; reference material management system(s), identify inventory levels and any special handling requirements.
- Safely operate various hand or automatic equipment used in the labeling, transport and storage of supplies; may operate a box truck in connection with the pick‑up or delivery of materials and supplies.
- Perform other inventory related duties as assigned.
A high school diploma or GED AND you must have at least two years verifiable work experience with experience in each of the following areas:
- Mechanical, electro‑mechanical, computer parts inventory or related products (e.g., car/truck parts, medical devices, and circuit boards).
- Using an inventory management program, in the last 10 years, where they were able to manipulate the inventory by identifying, locating, receiving, issuing/selling, etc. Examples include SAP, Maximo, Infor, etc.
- Directly working with customers in either retail or wholesale environment.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Forklift certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer and be maintained.
- Lifting up to twenty‑five (25) pounds. May be required to lift fifty (50) pounds and may also be required to lift more than 100 pounds with assistance.
