Job Overview:
The Manager Account is responsible for providing high‑quality, streamlined service with a focus on corporate initiatives for assigned chain or independent account(s). They serve as a team conductor, managing, directing, and coordinating all sales plans and programs. The role involves strategic selling, delivering core product expertise, and leveraging specialists when needed to build trusting relationships, assure customer satisfaction, and ensure compliance.
- Execute sales plans and goals designed to increase sales, profit margin, and minimize expenses.
- Develop joint business plans and forecast profit, volume growth, and other related goals.
- Identify and manage new sales opportunities and servicing of existing accounts.
- Make key decisions on addressing and identifying customer needs and concerns for assigned accounts.
- Bridge between Sales and Ops to manage challenges and resolve issues for customers.
- Analyze sales reporting and create strategies to drive sales.
- Operate as the account conductor and own the specialty sales deployment process.
- Develop and maintain a Joint Business Plan that drives sales and profit margin.
- Deliver corporate goals to achieve synergy and cross‑selling capabilities to customers.
- Create and maintain partnerships with vendors, brokers, and other trade partners.
- Meet or exceed client expectations and established deadlines.
- Drive proactively the company’s initiatives to ensure the success of the customer.
- Own one or more key account customers.
- Conduct regular reviews of sales activities and effectiveness; may develop promotions and incentives to increase sales and improve performance.
- Coordinate with a cross‑functional team to ensure account goals are achieved.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience.
- Understanding and knowledge of products and ability to develop and execute business plans.
- Experience with sales forecasting, promotions, and profitability analysis.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
- Ability to work in a result‑driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and company systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Aptitude for financial reporting and ability to lead without direct authority.
- Strong customer‑service, problem‑solving, attention‑to‑detail, and organizational skills.
Remote Role:
This position is classified as remote; associates may work from their primary residence. On‑site attendance may be required for business reasons or manager direction.
Travel (major):
Up to 50% travel to company offices, distribution centers, or retail locations may be required.
- Work in a temperature‑controlled office environment.
- Regular sitting, using hands and arms, speaking, and hearing.
- Handling office equipment; occasional stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching.
UNFI anticipates paying a salary within the stated range; actual pay will depend on education, experience, training, and applicable agreements.
