About the PositionThe Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB) is dedicated to fostering healthy brain function across the lifespan through early neurobehavioral and mental health assessment, innovative targeted interventions, informed policy-making, compassionate child‑advocacy, and community education. The MIDB’s mission of basic and clinical research in the field of neurobehavioral development is supported by a M Health Fairview multi‑specialty clinic and multiple research service hubs including:
Analytics, Informatics, Neuroimaging, Center for Neurobehavioral Development, Translational Neuroscience, Neuromodulation, Tele Outreach, Community Engagement and Education, and Clinic‑Research Integration.
A full‑time (100% FTE) Data Associate position is open at the University of Minnesota Clinic‑Research Integration Hub at the MIDB. The position contributes to database development, project management, and data quality endeavors across a variety of clinical research studies s position requires superior organizational, communication, problem‑solving, training and technical support, and data management skills, preferably with experience working with REDCap and similar database programs.
MajorDuties and Responsibilities Quantitative and Qualitative Data Collection (40%)
- Conduct population‑based, multi‑source surveillance for cerebral palsy among children in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties using methodology developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Travel regularly to schools, hospitals and clinics in the metro area to conduct surveillance by reviewing source records and abstracting relevant medical, demographic, and diagnostic information.
- Work independently to determine data to be included in the project based on the CDC surveillance protocol.
- Work directly with school and clinic personnel to access the files, maintaining excellent communication and professionalism.
- Achieve and maintain reliability on CDC methods, participating in training as required.
- Enter both narrative and quantitative data obtained from multiple sources into a complex web‑based central database using a laptop computer.
- Maintain relationships with sources and answer data collection methodology‑related questions from educational and clinical agencies.
- Contribute to and assist with development and expansion of an MIDB‑wide research registry.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of data repositories for neurodevelopmental conditions served at MIDB.
- Assist with data entry across clinical research projects, including research projects in the Tele Outreach Center and Clinical Behavioral Neuroscience that recruit participants from the MIDB Clinics.
- This position will collaborate with project managers in the Tele Outreach Center and Clinic‑Research Integration at MIDB.
- Collaborate with the project coordinators and principal investigators on research findings, questions, and problems.
- Assist with organizing, preparing, and presenting data for meetings and presentations.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in training and events.
- Maintain professional development, which includes completing and passing necessary training quizzes and evaluations.
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications- BA/BS degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years.
- Experience abstracting from medical records or education records sufficient to fulfill this responsibility.
- Experience with web‑based database management systems.
- Experience entering, cleaning, and managing clinical assessment data.
