Jord isseekinga highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist,Agronomic Insights who willbe responsible for supporting crop testing activities across our product development portfolio,to join our team.
The Senior Scientist will work under the supervision of the Chief Product Development Officer, with technical guidance from the Chief Science Officer.
The ideal candidatewillhaveexpertiseinplantscience, including plant physiologyandcrop testing. The candidatewillprovidecleartechnical guidanceinthedesign of experiments for controlled environment and field testingof microbial product candidate sand their interactions with plants.
Additionally, candidates should havedeepexperience with data analysis, visualization,and interpretation. Jord’s teams are highly cooperative, and this role will require cross-team collaboration, including with the lab operations, data science, crop testing,and commercial teams.
- Provide technical leadership to guide
Jord’s Crop Testing function toenable execution ofhigh-quality controlled environment and field testing,and deliver on Jord’s commercial goalsby developing research protocols, experimental designs, and data analysis plans. - Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for controlled environment and field trial operations, and participate in the execution of experiments as needed.
- Leadtheanalysis and interpretation ofdata fromcrop testing trials,using plantscienceexpertiseto drive product understanding.
- Collaborate with other team members and external partners toprepare for product launches,improve product placement and performance, andshare findings, knowledge, and best practices in a commercial context.
- Maintaina high levelof knowledge of the latest trends, techniques, and technologies incrop testing, and crop inputs in agriculture.
- Write scientific reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Maintainaccuraterecords and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Continuously learn and expand skills concomitant with Jord’s growth
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A minimum of aMaster'sdegree in Agronomy,Crop Physiology, Crop Nutrition,Horticulture,Cropor Plant Science,Plant Pathologyora related field.
- At least3-5 years of agriculture industry experience conducting research related tofield trials, controlled environment/greenhouse operations, orother crop testingin a commercial setting.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and train junior research staff, as needed.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices infield trials,greenhouseoperationsand/orplantnutrition.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with statisticalanalysissoftware is preferred
