Responsibilities- Performing analyses on environmental samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Investigating problem areas in assigned methods so that methods used within the Unit are as precise and efficient as possible.
- Performing routine maintenance for instruments utilized in assigned methods and troubleshoot instrument performance issues.
- Updating knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation so that the most appropriate analytical techniques are utilized and recommend changes in established techniques and procedures to ensure that the quality and reliability of data generated and reported meets the needs of the client.
- Working to ensure the proper functioning of the Unit so that operational efficiency is maintained.
- Working to cultivate an inclusive work environment for all, with respect to diversity and equity.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry or related scientific field.
- Two (2) years of experience conducting laboratory work in an analytical or research program relating to Environmental or Organic Chemistry.
- Experience operating and/or maintaining chromatographic laboratory equipment (gas chromatography or liquid chromatography).
- The ability to work independently, including planning, coordinating work, and paying strong attention to detail.
- Technical proficiency in the preparation of samples, standards, and reagents.
- The ability to work collaboratively with others.
- The ability to follow quality control procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy of tests using documented methods.
- Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment (USEPA or ISO 17025 accredited).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to provide training for other laboratory employees, students, or other trainees, to support a collaborative team environment.
- Must successfully pass a background and reference check.
- Under U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services regulations, the successful candidate must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins. This agency is unable to offer H-1B sponsorship.
