The Forensic Specimen Accessioner plays a crucial role in the medical laboratory science field, working in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment. This position offers on‑the‑job training in pre‑analytical processing of medical samples, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to start or advance their career in a laboratory setting. The primary responsibility involves working with automated aliquoting machines, requiring standing throughout the day.
Responsibilities- Meet couriers at the door to receive samples from across the USA and internationally, initiating the tracking process.
- Verify all samples' arrival, inspect for damage, dispose of packaging, and move samples for data entry.
- Operate multiple computer software systems and remember which software applies to different samples.
- Ensure the name on samples matches requisitions.
- Handle primarily urine samples, with some blood, serum, plasma, and body fluid samples.
- Create and label samples after system entry.
- Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them for stabilization as needed.
- Manage workflow for sample maintenance in walk‑in refrigerators and freezers after 3/6/12 months.
- Process between 5, samples daily.
- High School Diploma
- Intermediate computer, typing, and 10‑key skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Capability to work in a fast‑paced production environment
Skills & Qualifications
- Desire to advance within the laboratory
- Experience in multitasking
- Backgrounds in banking, serving, or customer service are beneficial

The work environment is a fast‑paced production setting crucial for diagnostic and therapeutic testing processes. Employees will receive training to provide accurate results for clients and patients, handling a high volume of samples daily (5,). The available shift is 1st shift, running from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 7:15 am to 3:45 pm on Saturday, with some overtime required.
This position is initially for a 3‑month term as part of a leave of absence (LOA) cover.
This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.75 - $17.75/hr.
