Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our St. John’s Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This position is a .7 FTE – 56 hours per two weeks on the Evening shift, for 8‑hour shifts, every other weekend, variable schedule. Our 184‑bed facility offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services in a warm, inviting atmosphere with innovative technology and dedicated staff.

Our unit offers 29 LDRP beds plus 2 triage rooms, 1 water birth room, and 2 OR suites. We provide single‑room care, averaging 200+ deliveries a month and daily outpatients for antenatal testing. Our NICU is newly remodeled, expanding care to higher‑risk patients (28 weeks gestational age).

• Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model to achieve the M Health Fairview Nursing vision.
• Supports the Nursing Process and a holistic nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the Professional Partnership Model.
• Communicates accurately and effectively with patients, families, and the health care team, reinforcing patient education as directed by clinical staff.
• Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians, and the interdependent team.
• Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic systems per program standards, departmental policies, and procedures.
• Maintains knowledge of and complies with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification. OnTrack participants must obtain BLS upon completion of the OnTrack program.
• Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview‑sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long‑term, home‑care, or acute‑care setting (appropriate roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician).
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign‑on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer is what will be honored.
