Maintenance Planner Supervisor

Overview

Northern Iron is looking for a Maintenance Planner Supervisor for our foundry. This position involves planning and scheduling maintenance activities, directing a team of technicians, ensuring resource availability like parts and labor, and using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work and improve long-term maintenance strategies. The Planner / Supervisor also coordinates with other departments, such as production, and manages personnel actions.

Must have previous experience in a heavy industrial maintenance planner or supervisory role.

• Planning and scheduling: Plan and schedule preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, using CMMS.

• Coordinate with production to create schedules that minimize disruption and align with business needs.

• Create preliminary and final schedules for the upcoming week.

• Resource management: Ensure all necessary parts, materials, and external services are available for planned jobs.

• Manage ordering, receiving, and stocking of maintenance parts, consumables, and supplies.

• Maintain an organized and accurate inventory system within the CMMS.

• Team and personnel management: Supervise, lead, and manage a team of maintenance technicians.

• Train new technicians and oversee their work.

• Coordination and communication: Act as a liaison between the maintenance team, production, and management.

• Communicate job status, schedule updates, and part information to stakeholders.

• Conduct job site inspections and walk-throughs to assess needs and identify potential issues before a job starts.

• Strategy and continuous improvement: Use data and analysis from the CMMS to improve maintenance strategies.

• Ensure health, safety, and other regulations are followed.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills

• Proficiency in inventory and supply chain management

• Experience with management software and CMMS systems

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Strong analytical and organizational abilities

• Must have previous experience in a heavy industrial maintenance planner / supervision role.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED;
  Technical degree preferred

• Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (8-hour shifts with overtime as needed; flexible with hours)

• Salary: $36 - $42 per hour
