Our client in the plastics manufacturing industry is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Manager to join their team north of St. Paul, MN. This is a strategy-focused role (approximately 80%) responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing maintenance operations across a seven-line facility. You will lead primarily in-house maintenance efforts while leveraging vetted third-party vendors as needed. The ideal candidate is a safety-first leader with strong mechanical expertise and hands-on experience installing, commissioning, and starting up new production assets.
Success in this role requires the ability to elevate maintenance strategy, strengthen preventative maintenance programs, and partner closely with Operations and Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to shape long-term maintenance strategy and support future automation initiatives within a well-established company.
- Lead maintenance strategy, planning, timing and execution
- Oversee the preventative maintenance (PM) program, scheduling and completion verification
- Plan and manage machine upgrades, new equipment installations, and automation additions
- Allocate internal resources and external vendors based on skill sets and workload demands
- Establish maintenance standards and enforce safety across all shifts
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to resolve production issues and reduce downtime
- Manage maintenance budgets, including labor, parts usage, and capital expenditures
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4–6 maintenance technicians across three shifts
- Prioritize projects and resources to align with plant objectives and production goals
- Stay current on new technologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- 7+ years of industrial maintenance, including 2+ years in plastics manufacturing, is required
- 5+ years of people leadership / management experience is required
- Proven experience planning, commissioning, & installing new production assets is required
- Strong mechanical expertise with solid electrical aptitude is required
- Ability to work 100% onsite is required
