This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

This temporary unclassified position exists to provide project management duties related to a major building remodel/renovation project that will impact the Department of Transportation’s approximately 1300 Central Office Transportation Building employees. With limited supervision, the remodel project manager will be the main point of contact for the project and will represent MnDOT’s interests and business needs for the duration of the project, from Design through Move‑In to Final Closeout.

The remodel project manager will work collaboratively or individually to:

  • develop and implement a building‑wide communication plan to keep staff and leadership informed of milestones, next steps, expectations, impacts, etc.; facilitate outreach to customers and end‑users to ensure that those voices are heard; direct the work performed by the project team, made up of State of Minnesota employees and non‑state contractors; enlist and assist appropriate resources (internally or externally) to facilitate change management at MnDOT;

    manage the coordination of remodel work so that business continues uninterrupted and disruptions are minimized.

The remodel project manager will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the remodel project including working directly with architects, designers, engineers, contractors, MnDOT staff, and other relevant State of Minnesota staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of professional experience in the bulleted areas below:

NOTE:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in construction management, construction science, architecture, or engineering substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience.

  • Experience with workplace strategy, space optimization, and ergonomic design;
  • Experience with project management from planning through remodel closeout;
  • Experience interpreting building codes, ADA compliance, fire/life safety standards, and sustainable design principles (e.g., LEED);
  • Experience managing costs and contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience introducing and managing significant change within an organization.
