CACI is looking for talented Law Clerk II professionals to support the Executive Office for United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Minnesota (USAO-MN) to assist the District's Civil or Criminal Division with litigative matters. The Law Clerk II positions will provide direct litigation and in court support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs). Qualifications
Summary:
Must have a law degree; three to five years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects including both pre-trial and trial support; proficiency with electronic litigation support databases; strong knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Perform a broad range of complex paralegal duties requiring a thorough working knowledge of the legal system, legal research methodologies, and relevant sources of information.
- Provide comprehensive litigation support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) throughout all phases of litigation.
- Work closely with assigned AUSAs during the progression of cases, providing substantive and administrative support.
- Organize and manage documents and data gathered during investigations and litigation, maintain proper chain of custody for all collected information, and ensure the integrity and accessibility of case materials.
- Assist attorneys in evaluating complaints and referrals involving potential unlawful conduct, conduct research related to investigative targets and unlawful schemes, and prepare summaries of relevant legal authorities.
- Review, annotate, and summarize transcripts and other factual materials; obtain financial, statistical, agency, court, and other public records; draft data and document requests, research reports, memoranda, correspondence, and pleadings; cite-check and proofreading legal filings; electronically file pleadings and other court documents; paralegals may attend witness interviews and prepare detailed interview reports.
- Attend pre-trial meetings, organize and review exhibits and case materials for accuracy and completeness, identify deficiencies, and coordinate the collection of supplemental information as needed. During and after trial, support the trial team with organizational and administrative tasks, including preparing summaries of testimony and depositions.
- Provide case management support utilizing Case View for opening, closing, and updating cases. May also use Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and other applications to prepare documents, charts, and visual presentations for use in meetings, briefs, and trial proceedings.
- Support and assist attorneys in the courtroom by preparing exhibit cross-references, and screening documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
- Must have a law degree.
- Must have three to five years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects including both pre-trial and trial support; proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
- Demonstrated proficiency with electronic litigation support databases (e.g., Case View, Relativity, Eclipse, or similar systems).
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large volumes of documents and discovery materials with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US citizenship required).
