Job Overview
Fairview is looking for a Language Services Coordinator to join our team at our Midway location in St. Paul, MN. The Language Services Coordinator identifies patient communication needs and determines what services best suite each patient. They will coordinate remote Communication Access Real Time (CART) services, an in‑person interpreter, a pre‑scheduled phone interpreter, or a virtual interpreter depending on the specific need;
this position works to ensure communication access to our patients. Coordinators focus on scheduling in a way that is most cost effective to the organization, while also meeting Fairview's standard of care to our patients who need language access.
- 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- day shift
- no weekends
8am-4:30pm 4 days per week and 9:30am-6pm 1 day per week
Responsibilities- Process new same day and next day appointments in a timely manner. Determine whether virtual services, an in‑person interpreter, or remote CART services are appropriate and coordinate accordingly
- Process all Language Services department emails: new requests, declined appointments, appointment changes, communication with vendors, and communication with clinic/unit staff
- Manage an updated list of unfilled interpreter and remote CART requests and communicate needs continuously with vendors
- Triage incoming phone calls: connect caller to an over the phone interpreter, process in‑person interpreter requests, provide answers to questions about services, and assist staff interpreters with schedule needs
- Complete assigned spoken language, American Sign Language, or CART services schedules during allotted timeframe
- 1 year Basic understanding and proficiency in MS Office
- A.A./A.S.
- 1 year Experience working within the Language Services industry
- 1 year Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
