Join the 2,800+ professionals of Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) who connect Minnesotans to services that will improve their lives. This position will be part of MNIT’s Human and Social Digital Services (HSDS) team, which supports agency teams at these state agencies:
Department of Human Services (DHS), MNsure, the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), and Direct Care and Treatment (DCT). The MNIT HSDS team combines development and IT operations with a Dev Ops approach to ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of critical technology systems that serve counties, families, and individuals across Minnesota.

This position provides professional knowledge and skills in information systems data testing, quality assurance and quality control of application data and systems. This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution. This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at 540 Cedar Street, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in QA testing of application data for relational and unstructured databases.
  • Experience must include:
    • Demonstrated experience and competence with understanding and writing complex SQL queries for data validation.
    • Strong Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
    • Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving to deliver positive user experiences.
  • Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Data Engineering (Teradata, SQL Server, Azure, Oracle or Agile Apps).
  • 3+ years writing complex SQL queries for data validation related to column integrity, security, index management and key verification.
  • Demonstrated experience with large‑scale, high‑volume data systems.
  • 2+ years experience with test automation tools like Playwright, Power Automate and/or Selenium.
  • 2+ years experience with validating data lineage and transformation logic end-to-end.
  • 2+ years experience with understanding of metadata management, governance, and cataloging tools.
