The City of Saint Paul’s Office of Technology and Communications (OTC) is looking to hire a Junior Network Administrator in their Operations and Infrastructure division. This position is part of a team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the city’s network environment, which provides various services to internal city staff as well as external users such as residents or the public.
As a Junior Network Administrator, you will work across city departments with a variety of stakeholders to help build consensus, share expertise with others using a consultative approach and drive results to meet business requirements. Additionally, within the team you will lead and prioritize work assignments to align with citywide goals and business objectives, and plan innovative changes to ensure a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
Here’s what you can expect to do- Troubleshoot network issues
- Independently utilize all available resources (knowledge bases, online resources, vendors, etc.) to ensure timely resolution of network issues
- Assist with planning, installation, maintenance of wiring and other network infrastructure including working with City departments on remodel and new facility work related to networking
- Installation of low voltage network infrastructure
- Network system monitoring, performance tuning, switch/firewall backup/recovery, network architecture, and network system maintenance
- Member of the 24x7 on‑call support team

A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Technology, or a related field and two (2) years of work experience related to the vacancy or avacancy-related technical school certificate and four (4) years of work experience related to the vacancy.
A combination of education and experience to equal six years or more can be used to qualify for the position.
May require a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
