If so, we want to hear from you! As a Web and Accessibility Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our agency’s digital presence. You’ll be the driving force behind maintaining and enhancing our website and intranet, ensuring they are accessible to everyone.
You’ll collaborate with talented web staff, respond to department requests, and lead accessibility initiatives to make information available and inclusive for all.
In this position you will:
- Manage web systems.
- Oversee accessibility training, tools and resources.
- Maintain and enhance the agency’s website and intranet content, ensuring accessibility and adherence to standards.
- Respond to accessibility requests from internal and external stakeholders.
The Telework Policy exempts employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% in‑office requirement to help the State of Minnesota benefit from top talent in every corner of the state.
Minimum Qualifications3 (three) years of experience in communications or public relations. Experience must include each of the following:
- Proven experience in website design, content management systems (such as Drupal), HTML, and web content editing.
- Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Proficiency in software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Gov Delivery, Google Analytics, and Commonlook.
- Communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with web standards, plain language, AP style and graphics management.
- Experience working in a government or public health environment.
- Advanced knowledge of CSS, web development, and multimedia content creation.
- Experience with site improvement tools such as Siteimprove.
- Prior experience providing training or technical assistance on web accessibility and content management.
