Overview

At the State of Minnesota, employees play a critical role in developing policies, providing essential services, and working to improve the well-being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.

The Work You'll Do

Join the 2,800+ professionals of Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) who connect Minnesotans to services that will improve their lives. This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

As the IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester you will provide professional knowledge and skills in information systems software testing, quality assurance and quality control of application software and systems. This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution. This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems.

Level 4 Quality Assurance Analyst/Testers have advanced expertise. Duties performed by this position are complex, and of a smaller scope than those led by senior Quality Assurance Analysis/Testing staff (ITS5). The QA staff at this level require some direction, coaching, and mentoring when leading the quality assurance/analysis for projects.

This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at 540 Cedar St., St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

  • Experience validating business and technical requirements for testability, working collaboratively with Business Analysts and development teams.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and best practices, including test strategy development, regression testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
  • Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
