Position: Configuration Management Database Coordinator (CMDB Coordinator)

The City of Saint Paul Office of Technology & Communications is hiring an IT Configuration Lead that is responsible for the ownership, accuracy, and governance of the City’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and the Configuration Management process within the Service Now platform.

The CMDB Coordinator will work closely with subject matter experts and operational teams to understand business objectives, translate them into configuration data requirements, and guide teams toward consistent, accurate practices. Responsibilities include overseeing integrations, validating relationships, and driving data-quality initiatives that support service visibility, cybersecurity recovery, and sustainable modernization across the enterprise.

Here’s what you can expect to do:
  • Serve as the process owner for Configuration Management, establishing and maintaining policies, procedures, and quality standards for the CMDB.
  • Represent Configuration Management in Service Now product council and operational and triage meetings to ensure configuration work aligns with enterprise priorities and release trains.
  • Maintain the structure, data models, and relationships within the Service Now CMDB, ensuring it accurately reflects the production environment.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to identify configuration dependencies and ensure data fidelity across systems.
  • Conduct ongoing data quality reviews and coordinate remediation of incomplete or inaccurate records.
  • Establish and maintain configuration metrics and dashboards, tracking completeness, compliance, and adoption against ITSM and ITOM goals.
  • Work cross-functionally with technical, operational, and product teams to maintain a unified view of City technology assets and services.
  • Facilitate regular governance board meetings with data owners, process leads to routinely check on data and services.

A Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Technology, or a related field and four (4) years of work experience related to the vacancy or a vacancy‑related technical school certificate and six (6) years of work experience related to the vacancy.

A combination of education and experience to equal eight years or more can be used to qualify for the position.

May require a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
