Purpose of PositionWithin this role, you will have the opportunity to provide outpatient and virtual psychology services for patients aged 16 and above with childhood-onset medical conditions including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, orthopedic diagnoses (e.g., scoliosis; hip dysplasia), cognitive disorders, and more. Services provided will include:
- Psychological testing (e.g., IQ, academic, executive function, emotional, behavioral measures; testing to guide transition to adulthood such as concerns for guardianship or supported decision making)
- Psychotherapy:
Common presentations include health behaviors (e.g., adherence, pain, sleep, adjustment to diagnosis/symptoms, healthcare transition to adult services) and broader mental health concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, behavior) - Pre-operative assessments and intervention
- Consultation and planning with various members of the care team – including medical providers, nursing, rehab therapists, social workers, and a multitude of others – will be an important component of your work.
The position also allows for opportunity to supervise graduate-level practicum students, as well as engage in other growth opportunities as they arise. Of course, you will have the ability to join a fun, collaborative, and skilled team of psychologists & psychotherapists.
Compensation and BenefitsThe annual salary range for this opportunity is $101,400 to $152,068, with a median salary of $126,734 (note/adjust if not 1.0 FTE). Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. CoreResponsibilities and Duties
1. Evaluates patient’s status to determine psychosocial, mental health, and/or academic functioning in order to develop an effective intervention plan.
- Performs diagnostic interview that identifies presenting problem, family concerns, strengths and expectations. Provides background information relevant to the diagnostic formulation.
- Undertakes assessment appropriate to referral questions and patient status. Any modifications in standard test administration will be noted, as will the implications for reliability and validity.
- Integrates background information and assessment results to answer specific referral questions and render DSM or ICD-10 diagnoses, consistent with the results of assessment.
- Interprets test and evaluation results to generate useful recommendations for the patient, caregiver and referral source.
- Writes clear and comprehensive reports conforming to APA and CFS standards.
- Completes same day documentation of each patient contact.
- Completes final reports in a timely fashion, conforming to program deadline, or within 30 days of last date of service.
- Makes timely and appropriate referrals to other professionals.
- Meets departmental productivity standards appropriate to position 42% billable hours per month.
2. Implements effective and appropriate intervention plan that addresses identified problems and needs.
- Provides intervention suited to clinical problem and client or family situation and within own professional competencies. (Per periodic chart review).
- Develops and modifies treatment plans in consultation with client or family, team, CFS staff.
