Position Overview
Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT’s) monitor and assist adolescent clients in the residential milieu, lead activities designed to help the residents adjust to living in a community setting, and assist the residents in gaining the skills needed to manage their eating disorder. BHT’s play an integral role in the day‑to‑day function of the clients’ experience.
Schedule- Full Time 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) Day/Evening shifts
- Day: 6am‑2:30pm, 8:00am‑4:30pm
- Evening
Shifts:
2pm‑10:30pm, 4pm‑12:30am - Every other weekend required (Saturday & Sunday)
- Schedule is made a month at a time with a combination of both day and evening shifts
- BHT I:
Starting hourly range between $18.00‑$21.00
Final Compensation offered will be within pay range based on qualifications/experience met for the position.
How BHT’s Empower Recovery- Partners with the multi‑disciplinary team on care plan and treatment, assisting in admissions, supporting or assisting clients in programming
- Participates in therapeutic meals and snacks and provides support during structured outings and recreation
- Available to engage, challenge, and support residents as needed. Reports observations and documents in charts
- Monitors and supports bathroom use per client treatment direction. Monitors and documents exercise.
- Responsible for enforcing appropriate policies with residents and completing all expected tasks including hourly room‑checks
- Associate’s degree in a mental health–related field (such as mental or behavioral health, counseling, or behavioral sciences) is required to meet Minnesota DHS licensure standards for the Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker classification. OR
- High school diploma and at least one year / 2,000 hours of direct patient care experience in a mental or behavioral health setting is also required.
- Entry‑level position; however, 6+ months of direct client care / milieu experience in a mental/behavioral health or healthcare setting, particularly with eating disorders is preferred.
- Completion of Preceptor Program preferred.
- Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites must have a valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive.
- Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
- Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
- Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites in North Carolina or Georgia are required to have a current CPI certification within 30 days of hire.
- Employees at Residential site in Washington are required to have a Washington State Department of Health Food Handler permit within 30 days of hire.
