Medical Laboratory Scientist

Overview

Regions Hospital Clinical Laboratory is seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. The role supports Regions Hospital and a network that includes six suburban hospitals and over twenty clinics. You will be part of an innovative and collaborative laboratory group in a remodeled space designed for ergonomics and workflow, with involvement in our new laboratory information system to enhance efficiency and patient safety.

• Perform laboratory tests in the assigned section as a member of a technical work team.
• Assist in the implementation of methodologies and participate in the training of new personnel and student clinical rotations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for new personnel and students; contribute to directing personnel as a charge tech as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

FTE: 0.5 (20 hours weekly), Day/Evening shift.

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology, or other science-related field.
• Advanced degree or training (Master's in Sciences or Clinical Specialty) may substitute for preferred certification.

• Successful completion of a clinical rotation in an approved program qualifying for ASCP certification or equivalent.
• Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification with ASCP or equivalent agency, or eligible.
