Position Summary: The Wernimont Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team focused on placenta biology. Our lab investigates the mechanisms underlying placental development and function, with an emphasis on maternal-fetal health. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in reproductive and developmental biology. The position is full-time, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate key aspects of placenta biology.
- Utilize molecular, cellular, and bioinformatics approaches to analyze placental structure and function.
- Develop and apply novel techniques to study trophoblast differentiation, mitochondrial function, and nutrient transport.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Analyze, interpret, and present data at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as part of the lab's training mission.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in molecular biosciences, cellular biology, developmental biology, physiology, genetics, or a related field.
- Strong background in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics.
- Experience with placental biology, trophoblast research, or pregnancy-related disorders is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, or imaging techniques.
- Proficiency in computational biology tools for transcriptomic and genomic data analysis.
- Familiarity with animal models of pregnancy or human placental tissue and organoid studies.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
Pay Range: $61,008-$66,492 (depending on education/qualifications/experience)
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
