Administers speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems, swallowing disorders, and cognitive issues. Assesses and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses, monitors disease progression, and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs clients/patients/residents in therapeutic exercises and provides consultation throughout the treatment process. Ensures all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met.
Demonstrates documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meets all regulatory requirements.
May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis and disorders. Will exhibit flexibility with variable work schedules/assignments and participate in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health. May supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services. Expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise as determined by department leadership.
Performs other related duties as requested by manager.
- Appropriate education level in accordance with state licensure.
- Must be licensed as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in the state(s) of practice.
- Preferred:
Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHA or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). - May require a valid driver’s license.
- Obtains and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required within the first 60 days of employment.
