This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the primary work location will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. The primary work location is St Paul, MN.

The role serves as the agency’s Grant Financial Reconciliation Specialist to help ensure that the State meets its obligations for managing Federal, State, and pass‑through grants in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance and training related to grant budget development, invoice review for reimbursement, and financial documentation to DLI units and grantees to ensure the agency’s grant program meets federal, state, and other applicable administrative and financial management requirements, including establishing and maintaining internal controls.
- Perform invoice reimbursement, request reconciliations, mid‑point monitoring financial reconciliations, and grant closeout reconciliations to ensure the state is paying grantees for appropriate and actual expenditures incurred within a grant contract.
- Provide technical assistance, training, and support to DLI units related to pre‑award risk assessments, transparency checks, verification procedures, and other fraud prevention processes to ensure DLI has proper controls in place when awarding grant contracts.
- Collaborate with agency grant staff on drafting and/or updating financial management policies, procedures, templates and trainings.
- Develop tools and systems to monitor spending and invoicing alongside the financial reporting systems housed within the Financial Services Unit.
- Collaborate and cross‑train with the Agency Grants Coordinator to ensure sufficient back‑up support is provided and overall agency grant program controls are maintained.

- Three (3) years of experience
* in financial reconciliation of administrative, grant, or loan programs or financial management experience involving evaluating, administering, accounting for, and/or monitoring of grants or loans. - Experience includes internships, fellowships, volunteering, and work experience that are directly related to the job duties.
- Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience;
Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience;
Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience;
Associate’s degree may substitute for six months of experience.
Experience must demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge and understanding of governmental budgeting and financial management procedures.
