What you will do- Implement proactive outreach strategies that open a dialogue between the Office of the Governor and Minnesotans across the state.
- Respond to inquiries and questions from stakeholders.
- Participate in developing and implementing a statewide outreach plan.
- Present a positive reflection of the Governor, Lt. Governor and their office.
- Work with legislators, non-profit agencies or organizations, and other community groups based on your assigned area, building strong working relationships and coalitions to support key initiatives and inform officer operations.
- Work with Public Engagement leadership, involve stakeholders in communities for assigned portfolio and other assigned issue areas in the work of advancing the Administration’s agenda in those issue areas.
- Connect with and gain trust from staff, community members, legislators, coalition partners, and others, across lines of difference.
- Process special document requests including proclamations, flag notices, and certificates.
- Advance the Governor, Lt. Governor, and First Lady at public events, assigned based on staff’s issue areas and constituencies.
- Assist in coordinating events and meetings hosted by the Governor’s Office.
- The ability to travel throughout the state of Minnesota and work evenings and weekends as needed.
- The ability to exercise discretion in discussing policy and legislative issues with stakeholders.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner.
- The ability to maintain confidential information.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
- A candidate who deeply believes that racial equity and inclusion are important and is driven to act on this belief.
- Someone who is able to recognize ways that race, and other identities intersect and play out, especially within the communities we serve.
- An understanding of the historical context for racial inequity, and its present-day implications in Minnesota.
- Ability to work across communities in both urban and rural Minnesota.
- Previous work experience within diverse communities in Minnesota.
- Previous work, academic or volunteer experience on environmental issues preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Previous experience in state government preferred.
- Proficiency in language(s) other than English preferred.
- Previous work experience within workforce, labor or children and families organizations or issues in Minnesota.
Light lifting, up to 10 pounds, the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation.
