Join the Minnesota Department of Health as our Internal Communications Project Lead and make a meaningful impact across the agency! In this dynamic role, you will serve as the driving force behind internal messaging that keeps our dedicated staff informed, engaged, and inspired. You'll work closely with leadership and teams across various departments to craft and execute innovative communication strategies that support our mission of protecting and improving public health.
This role serves as the agency's lead for internal communications within the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), supporting various departments and leadership. The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing communication strategies and projects to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with agency initiatives. In this position you will:
- Provide expert guidance on communication practices.
- Coordinate internal meetings and events.
- Ensure messaging aligns with department standards, policies, and legal requirements.
The position requires strong project management, relationship‑building skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic organizational environment.
The Telework Policy exempts employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% in‑office requirement to help the State of Minnesota benefit from top talent in every corner of the state.
Minimum QualificationsTo facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
3 (three) years of experience in communications or public relations. Experience must include each of the following:
- Providing communications strategies, guidance and support to stakeholders.
- Developing, planning, implementing and coordinating internal communication projects and activities.
- Content creation for print and electronic media.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and familiarity with virtual meeting tools like Teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in leading or advising on complex internal communication initiatives and campaigns.
- Experience with emergency preparedness and response communications.
- Experience in planning and executing large internal events, town halls, or training sessions.
