Corporate Actuarial
- Under the direction of the Chief Risk Officer, conducts quarterly reserve reviews and monitors Signal Mutual’s portfolio of USL&H (Longshore) and other WC claims
- Studies trends in paid and incurred patterns for medical, indemnity and expense to better understand development and cash flows
- Leverages applicable external data, such as industry trends, medical CPI indices, wage trends, and other economic indices to better inform the reserving practice
- Under the direction of the Chief Risk Officer, analyze statistical data, claims experience and market trends to inform pricing decisions. Based on this analysis, provide premium and loss projections for the financial and underwriting budget and analyze and explain variances from budget.
- Assist in development of new and enhancement of current actuarial tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of reserving and pricing
- Work closely with Member and Operational Data and Reporting Team
- Develop new or enhance current reports and reporting tools. May include development of AI tools or agents.
- Develop and implement models leveraging large datasets, statistical analyses and predictive analytics to support business decisions
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and present findings to stakeholders in clear, business-friendly language and data visualization
- Support capital modeling work by providing required data and understanding and discussion of model inputs and outputs
- Support ERM framework and maintain the risk register
- Monitor and analyze emerging risks
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) preferred but will consider progress towards ACAS (5+ exams) with intent of becoming credentialed
- 5+ years of actuarial experience in the property and casualty insurance industry
- 3+ years of workers’ compensation experience strongly preferred
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools preferred
- Experience in Python, R, SQL or similar for statistical analysis is a plus
- Familiarity with machine learning or predictive modeling frameworks is a plus
