Chief Financial Officer

We are seeking a high-caliber, operationally-focused Chief Financial Officer to partner with the CEO and Board of Directors during a critical growth phase. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will be responsible for professionalizing the finance function, driving margin expansion, and preparing the organization for an eventual exit.

This will be an on-site opportunity in the Greater Minneapolis area, so the candidate will either need to be local or open to relocation.

Strategic Leadership & PE Partnership

• Sponsor Liaison:
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Private Equity firm, delivering monthly board packages, covenant compliance reports, and ad-hoc financial analysis.

• Value Creation:
Partner with the CEO to execute the "Value Creation Plan," identifying levers for EBITDA growth and operational efficiency.

• Exit Readiness:
Lead the preparation for a future liquidity event (M&A or secondary sale), including the management of data rooms and quality of earnings (QofE) audits.

• Capital Management:
Manage the company’s capital structure, including debt service, lender relationships, and treasury functions to ensure optimal liquidity.

• Manufacturing Finance:
Oversee standard costing systems, variance analysis (PPV, labor, overhead), and inventory valuation across multiple production lines.

• KPI Development:
Establish and monitor rigorous operational metrics such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), scrap rates, and contribution margin by product/customer.

• Working Capital Optimization:
Drive aggressive management of Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Inventory levels to maximize free cash flow.

• Systems Implementation:
Evaluate and enhance ERP capabilities to ensure "one version of the truth" and automate manual reporting processes.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Budgeting & Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process and develop robust rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts.

• Margin Analysis:
Perform deep-dive analytics into pricing strategies and SKU profitability to eliminate low-margin business.

• Strategic Growth:
Oversees, plans, and directs all aspects of the organization’s efforts to achieve growth through mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Compliance & Team Development

• Internal Controls:
Strengthen accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure GAAP compliance.

• Team Mentorship:
Manage and upskill the existing accounting/finance team (Controller, AP/AR, Staff Accountants) to meet the demands of a PE-backed environment.

• Tax & Audit:
Oversee the annual external audit and coordinate with tax advisors for state, federal, and R&D tax credit filings.

Candidate Qualifications

•

Experience:

10+ years of progressive finance leadership, with at least 5 years as a CFO or VP of Finance in a manufacturing/distribution based environment.

• PE Pedigree:
Prior experience operating within a Private Equity-backed portfolio company is required.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; MBA or CPA designation is strongly preferred.

• Technical

Skills:

Advanced Excel modeling skills and proficiency with mid-market ERP systems.

• Mindset: A "roll-up-the-sleeves" leader who thrives in a fast-paced, lean environment and can pivot from high-level strategy to granular data.
