Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct the accounting team, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- Oversee fund accounting processes, ensuring compliance with nonprofit standards and regulations.
- Manage grant accounting activities, including monitoring and reporting on government and federal grants.
- Ensure proper tracking and allocation of post-grant funds, maintaining detailed records and documentation.
- Collaborate with organizational leaders to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance.
- Review and improve accounting practices to optimize processes and enhance reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes and resolve any issues.
- Stay updated on changes in nonprofit accounting standards and grant regulations to ensure adherence. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on nonprofit fund and grant management.
- Proven expertise in fund accounting and knowledge of nonprofit financial operations.
- Strong experience in grant management, including federal and government grants.
- Familiarity with post-grant processes and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools relevant to nonprofit organizations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA certification is preferred.
