PositionMid‑Level to Senior Geologist/Hydrogeologist
Location:
St. Paul office (any of our St. Paul offices)
GHD is looking for a self‑motivated professional with excellent technical skills, federal/state/local environmental regulatory knowledge, and existing relationships with clients, prospects, and regulators. Join our growing Contaminated Assessment and Remediation (CAR) Group and help shape communities in new, positive ways.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct research or perform evaluations of a geological or hydrogeological nature.
- Create technical reports to inform proposals, budgets, support environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance for civil infrastructure projects.
- Collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend actions based on data from soil, water, and other sources.
- Monitor and review performance against HSE KPIs and patterns of behavior; take action to improve performance and resolve noncompliance.
- Promote a behavior‑based safety culture and participate in continuous improvement, including occasional after‑hours emergency response.
- Manage a portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Provide technical project management and direction, ensuring projects are delivered safely, within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Lead proposal development and contract negotiation to win targeted pursuits that leverage GHD’s capabilities and value proposition.
- Maintain a high external profile through client engagement and continual networking.
- Support key client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and effective communication of technical information.
- Act as a subject matter expert in environmental investigations and remediation, mentoring high‑functioning teams.
- Maintain external accreditations and stay current on U.S. EPA and state environmental regulations.
- Provide informal training or coaching to colleagues to build organizational capability.
- Engage in communities of practice to share expertise and develop innovative approaches.
- Apply complex problem‑solving skills to environmental investigations and remediation strategies.
- Identify and evaluate technical and regulatory solutions to meet client compliance needs.
- Conduct hydrogeologic assessment and site characterization for soil, soil vapor, indoor air, and groundwater.
- Oversee environmental risk management processes to minimize detrimental impacts.
- Coordinate elements of environmental impact assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Gather information and resources, draft proposals, and fulfill all requirements to maximize success in bid solicitations, RFPs, and tenders.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation (drilling techniques, contaminant fate and transport, site characterization, protocols, remediation techniques).
- Managing project teams, project management, mentoring staff.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to travel to project sites for short durations, including overnight travel throughout the region.
- Professional designation or license preferred.
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in applied science (Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology).
- 401(k) – Employees are eligible to participate on the first day of the month following 3 months of service.
- Paid time off – PTO starts at 16 days per year and increases with years of service.
- Holiday pay – Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year.
- Wellness benefit – Regular full‑term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program (50% of cost, up to $250.00 annually).
- Salary range: $63,500.00 – $ (varies based on location and experience).
