The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Maintenance and Reliability Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Systems you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
* Provide support for HVAC systems for Lab and Administrative buildings
* Create specifications for purchasing mechanical utility system equipment
* Model energy consumption of mechanical systems
* Provide support for site building automation systems, and stay abreast of technology advancements in Building Automation and HVAC systems
* Support Plant Engineering as they develop and manage project timelines and budgets
* Successfully interact with multiple discipline teams including 3M Center operations, consultants, suppliers, and vendors
* Communicate effectively to project team, facility staff and project owners
* Troubleshoot steam and chilled water issues in new and existing systems
* Insure application of applicable codes, standards, and internal guidelines
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
* High School diploma, GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and four (4) years of experience in Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Operations or Utility Plant Operations in a private, public, government or military environment
Or
* Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and two (2) years of experience in Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Operations or Utility Plant Operations in a private, public, government or military environment
And
* Two (2) years of project experience in mechanical system installation and/or maintenance in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
* Bachelor's degree in an engineering field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university
* Two (2) years of experience in Building Automation Systems (programing, graphics, data analysis)
* Programing experience in Siemens PPCL and Niagara wire sheets
* Two (2) years of experience with Large HVAC systems and laboratory ventilation controls.
* Experience in utility distribution with steam and/or chilled water
* Be proficient in use of project management skills for developing timelines, budgets, and coordination of activities
* Be proficient creating Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents
* Be proficient at using electronic tools for design, documentation, and communication
* Function as a team player with the ability to contribute in a matrix environment

On-site at Maplewood, MN
Travel:
May include up to 10% domestic
Relocation:
May be authorized

The expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 - $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
