LEAD ENGINEER, MCGOUGH FACILITY MANAGEMENT

The Lead Engineer guides and supports a team of Building Engineers and assists with direction of Maintenance Technicians in support of client, maintenance, and facility operating needs. The Lead Engineer is responsible for identifying building service needs, performing building service work, and assisting with Facility/Property Management needs. The position has a strong focus on process improvements across all functions of the McGough Facility Management’s field service team.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Minnesota 1st Class Boilers License or Chief License. Open to a person with a 2nd Class License, but would need to obtain 1st Class Boilers License within 3 months from hire date.
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to perform, train and oversee building maintenance and engineering staff in all aspects of McGough Facility Management’s self-performed building maintenance and engineering work
  • Knowledge of record keeping, reporting, budgeting, supplies, materials and equipment cost control and time tracking
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time constraints, multiple projects, and urgent priorities simultaneously
  • Thorough understanding of commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation, fire/life safety systems and all other related building functions
  • Strong computer skills, including work order systems, building controls/ BAS/ EMS and related building operating systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience Building strong partnerships with clients, tenants, subcontractors, and internal business operating units
  • Pursue continuous learning of industry standards and technologies

Preferred:

  • B.S. or A.A.S. technical degree in HVAC, Facilities Engineering or comparable training program
  • System Maintenance Administrator (SMA), System Maintenance technician (SMT) designation or Building Systems Maintenance (SMC) certification or other applicable professional credentials
  • Experience with developing, implementing, and managing continuous improvement initiatives

Office and Travel:

Daily travel between managed properties is necessary. This position is part of McGough Facility Management’s roving Building Engineering and Maintenance team.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Building Service & Project Work

  • Responsible for ensuring that parts, supplies, materials, and tools required for the Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers, are ordered and made available in a timely manner to ensure work requests can be completed timely
  • Ability to provide 24/7 on call support to assist and respond to building emergency needs
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers with work requests, repairs, preventive maintenance, tasks and building operating needs
  • Provide backup coverage for Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers to ensure maintenance/ operating requirements and site coverage needs are met.
  • Responsible for completing and performing project work, helping to allocate resources and provide direction to Technician/Engineer
  • Accountable for ensuring that all self-performed maintenance and engineering work is complete, finished on schedule, and is of high quality

  • Meets with Facility/ Property Managers to support client relationships
  • Work to improve the services provided by the Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers
  • Responsible for developing building maintenance, operating and preventive maintenance plans with the assistance of Facility/ Property Managers
