Responsible for day-to-day support of the materials used in production. Assist the Senior Product Engineer in testing and recommending materials and supporting sales. Create samples of our materials and products for customers to test. Assist in developing new products.
Major Areas of Accountability- Recommend appropriate products based on customer needs.
- Support transitions to new materials due to performance, availability or other cause.
- Work with vendors to understand the products they carry, services they provide, and to resolve issues due to non-conforming and/or failed products.
- Recommend new materials to add to our catalog.
- Understand product lines and their performance requirements.
- Use defined test methods to test and qualify materials.
- Use lab equipment and schedule production equipment to produce samples for customers to test and qualify.
- Manage assigned projects from start to completion and ensure that they are completed in the agreed time frame.
- Determine product and/or system failure, recommend and oversee corrective action to prevent re-occurrences.
- Conduct continuous improvement activities to improve margins and increase efficiency or product performance.
- Support efforts to address material and product issues, helping to create robust products that run well through production and perform well for customers.
- Assist New Product Development with testing and in plant operations
- Perform other duties and tasks as apparent or assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent
- Proven results-orientated engineering experience in manufacturing
- Experience with quality systems and continuous improvement
- Excellent people, communication and problem-solving skills
- Degree in or related to Chemical Engineering or Material Science.
- Experience with adhesives, coatings or labels.
- Experience in printing or converting.
- Experience in project management.
Starting annual salary for this role is $68,000- $78,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, STD/LTD, Accident and Critical Illness Insurance, Pet Insurance, Generous PTO policy, 401(k) with match, Profit Sharing.
