Tooling Engineer Job Description
The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new injection molds, tooling, and fixtures based on product requirements. Collaborating closely with product development, manufacturing, and quality teams, the engineer ensures that tools meet specifications and production goals. The role involves reviewing and approving mold designs, material selections, and manufacturing methods, overseeing tool fabrication, qualification, and validation processes, and troubleshooting mold and tooling issues.
Responsibilities- Design and develop new injection molds, tooling, and fixtures.
- Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Review and approve mold designs, material selections, and manufacturing methods.
- Oversee tool fabrication, qualification, and validation processes.
- Troubleshoot mold and tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
- Manage mold trials, analyze results, and adjust tooling/process parameters.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of tool designs, revisions, and maintenance history.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, scrap, and tooling costs.
- Provide technical support for tool maintenance, repair, and refurbishment programs.
- 5+ years of experience in tooling design with Creo, Solid Works, etc.
- 3+ years of project management experience.
- 3+ years of experience in plastic injection molding.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
The position is onsite and offers an opportunity to join a family-owned company experiencing significant growth. The role reports directly to the owner.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $57.00/hr.
