Position OverviewThe Environmental Services (ES) Division has three vacancies for either a senior engineer or principal engineer in the Plant Engineering group within the Capital Design and Delivery department. Salary ranges: senior engineer $100,526–115,000; principal engineer $111,384–140,000.
Responsibilities- Manage detailed phases of engineering work for capital projects and programs at ES Water Resource Recovery Facilities.
- Provide work direction to A/E consultants and plant engineering staff.
- Lead project delivery activities through planning, design, construction, and commissioning support.
- Manage project budgets, formats, and procurement documentation.
- Track approvals for purchase orders, change orders, and invoices.
- Prepare milestone schedules and mitigate schedule impacts.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
- Four years of related engineering experience (senior engineer); five years for principal engineer.
- Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Minnesota or a state with reciprocity. PE required for many positions.
- Experience managing large multi‑disciplinary capital projects ($15M+).
- Experience in all phases of project delivery for wastewater or water projects.
- Strong written and oral communication; ability to present technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, E‑Builder, and other engineering software.
