We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer II to join our team! You will be responsible for ensuring the performance of various remediation systems. This position involves system management and occasional site visits to monitor and optimize remediation systems, ensuring their continuous and efficient operation.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Ensure effective performance of local remediation systems, including Operations and Maintenance (O&M) tasks, site visits, system operational checks, system and groundwater sampling, system troubleshooting and operational adjustments, system cleanings and maintenance work.
- Provide technical support project managers on environmental investigation and remediation projects for Bay West’s various Federal, State, and Private sector clients
- Begin to make technical decisions, conclusions and recommendations based upon regulatory guidance, field experience and training
- Summarize technical results, typically using similar example documents
- Help prepare proposed scope of services that presents a complete list of proposed activities in a logical fashion to avoid client misunderstandings or exposure to liability.
- Help prepare appropriate cost estimates that include all costs to complete the proposed activities.
- Help prepare technical bidding specifications for excavations, corrective action systems, and other subcontracted activities
- Help prepare feasibility studies that evaluate multiple options, including present value cost estimates.
- Assist in preparing project deliverables including correspondence, proposals, data review and interpretation, project reports and remedy determination, remedy implementation and bid specifications, and cost estimates.
- Collaboratively work with other staff to problem-solve and produce high quality creative solutions for our customers.
- Provide directions to field staff and coordinate field activities with contractors and Bay West staff.
- Provide oversight of subcontractors and communicate with project managers.
- Conduct field work, focused on remediation system maintenance and optimization
- System work includes air sparge (AS) and soil vapor extraction (SVE) systems and groundwater pump and treatment systems utilizing air stripping units (ASU).
- Procure, contract, and conduct oversight of investigation, system maintenance, drilling, and excavation subcontractors
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ideally with an environmental focus
- Three to five years of experience in engineering role
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain it in the near future
- 40-hour HAZWOPER or ability to obtain in 30 days
- Able to obtain site access to secure areas such as Federal or State sites
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Ability to work independently
- Driver’s license and ability to get to a site 24/7
- Experience working with various treatment systems, trouble shooting and optimizing system performance include AS/SVE and ASU systems
- Interest in hands‑on work, mechanical and technical skills and troubleshooting. Must be comfortable performing a variety of hands‑on tasks, including mechanical system troubleshooting, light plumbing and electrical work, and mechanical repair
- Working familiarity with environmental assessment field data collection methods and procedures
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills, effective time‑management, and strong organizational skills
- Experience supporting multiple projects and meeting deadlines while providing excellent customer service
- Knowledgeable about permitting requirements such as underground injection control (UIC) and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
