Overview

The primary function of the Civil Engineer is to generate sales through relationship marketing, managing projects to ensure jobs are completed timely, professionally and within project budgets, and manage and develop Geotechnical Project Engineers, and Drilling Crew Personnel to provide “best-in-class” service to our Clients. Salary: $120,000 – $140,000/yr DOE

Responsibilities
  • Generate and maintain customer/project portfolio and client base.

  • Communicate with architects and contractors to determine essential details of requested inspection services and/or tests on construction materials projects.

  • Provide proposals and cost information to clients.

  • Conduct engineering investigations and prepare formal interpretive reports for clients on findings.

  • Prepare project set-up sheets for scheduling and assignment of work.

  • Mentor and aid with supervising junior CME Engineers and Technicians working on CME projects.

  • Initiate special work permits in compliance with clients’ requirements.

  • Aid with geotechnical investigations and preparing professional reports.

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory agencies requirements

  • Responsible for marketing and developing the business in the Geotechnical field

  • Maintain a base of Clients. Responsible for yearly sales, customer service, account management and development of Client relationships

  • Aid with construction materials testing projects and preparing professional reports Skills /

    Qualifications:

  • 10 years related experience in construction materials testing and inspection services.

  • 10 years related experience assisting with managing projects and reporting of results.

  • Driven for success with a history of focus on the client.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal skills, and a self starter.

  • Experience managing a budget and performing project management work.

  • Must have good understanding and working knowledge of CME processes and procedures.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle within Company policy. A valid Driver’s license is required.

  • Computer aptitude and ability to adapt to company’s systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel).

  • Ability to document complete job including notes on client contacts, action in the field, subsequent laboratory tests with dates and times noted for review purpose.

  • Ability to maintain a tactful attitude when talking to project engineers, owners, contractors, and architects, and to remember the importance of maintaining good client relations.

  • Ability to talk knowledgeably to project engineers and/or contractor about the jobs as required concerning work progress and necessary recommendations.

  • Ability to accurately and fluently convey thoughts orally and in writing. Write reports giving professional opinions and recommendations applying standard engineering practices and techniques.

  • Capable of providing all technical expertise required to exceed client expectations.

  • Develops solutions, makes recommendations and prepares engineering reports for review.

  • Makes engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software

  • Prepares field reports documenting contractors work methods, test results, interpretation of these tests

  • Experience mentoring and supervising engineering and field staff.

  • Ability to provide technical review and oversight for a variety of construction material and geotechnical engineering projects dealing with shallow/intermediate/deep foundations, pavements, embankments, and slope stability analyses.

  • Ability to maintain positive internal and external relationships.

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Geotechnical Drilling
