This position is responsible for assisting with the GEARUP Program (Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) at assigned schools. The position provides support to school-based staff delivering GEARUP services and provides ongoing training (when applicable) to ensure effective implementation at middle and/or high schools. The position also assists with program management and evaluation, provides staff development, and collects data to ensure compliance with federal requirements.
Minimum Qualifications- Two (2) years of experience in outreach, partnership development, student support, or community engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, public administration, or related field (substitutes one (1) year of experience).
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with partner organizations (e.g., schools, employers, community organizations) and coordinating services and events to support partners.
- Knowledge of current issues and best practices relating to postsecondary and career readiness and postsecondary access.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to facilitate meetings, trainings, and deliver presentations for varied audiences (e.g., students, educators, parents/guardians, employers) at school-based events and at state and national conferences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives or priorities, coordinate logistics, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and responsible team member with strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound decision-making skills.
- Working proficiency with common office and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365/Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms) and experience documenting outreach and services provided to partners.
- Resides in, or is able to regularly work from, the Bemidji area (within 40 miles of Bemidji).
- Experience working with rural schools/communities and understanding rural challenges to postsecondary and career readiness.
- Experience partnering with Tribal Nations/Indigenous communities and working in ways that honor local protocols and community priorities.
- Experience delivering postsecondary/career readiness supports (e.g., FAFSA/financial aid events, college & career planning, career exploration, work-based learning coordination).
- Ability to position self and move sufficiently to perform repetitive tasks.
- Maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Ability to carry up to 20 pounds of weight on an infrequent basis.
