The Head Girls' Tennis Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the girls' tennis program. This includes athlete development, team culture, competitive success, and alignment with the school's educational and athletic mission. The coach is expected to foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment while modeling professionalism and integrity.
Primary Responsibilities- Program Leadership
- Plan, organize, and oversee the entire girls' tennis program.
- Establish and maintain program standards aligned with school and athletic department expectations.
- Build a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, accountability, and respect.
- Serve as a visible and supportive leader for student-athletes.
- Coaching & Athlete Development
- Plan and conduct effective practices focused on skill development, strategy, conditioning, and match preparation.
- Provide instruction appropriate to varying skill levels.
- Develop lineups, match strategies, and substitutions.
- Emphasize long-term athlete development, confidence, and love for the sport.
- Team Management
- Coordinate tryouts, roster selection, and player evaluations.
- Communicate expectations clearly to athletes and families.
- Address team issues promptly and professionally.
- Support academic success and enforce eligibility requirements.
- Competition & Scheduling
- Prepare the team for league and postseason competition.
- Ensure proper supervision at practices, matches, and team events.
- Coordinate transportation, equipment needs, and match logistics in collaboration with the athletic department.
- Staff & Collaboration
- Supervise and support assistant coaches (if applicable).
- Work cooperatively with athletic administration, school staff, and other coaches.
- Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
- Compliance & Safety
- Follow all school, district, league, and state athletic association rules.
- Emphasize athlete safety, proper conditioning, and injury prevention.
- Maintain certifications required by the school or state (e.g., CPR/First Aid).
- Community & Program Representation
- Represent the program and school with professionalism at all times.
- Foster positive relationships with families, officials, and opposing teams.
- Promote the program within the school and community.
