About the Job

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota is looking for a lecturer to teach one introductory physics course and carry out other teaching duties, including discussion sections and laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Primary instructor for PHYS
  1102W, second semester algebra-based introductory physics: 40% lectures and preparation, 40% additional discussion section and/or laboratory, 15% administration of discussion sections of honors introductory physics, 5% other duties as assigned.
• Lectures and preparation (40%) in accordance with departmental instructional guidelines.
• Administration of class through Canvas and communication with students.
• Preparation of syllabus, quizzes, tests, homework.
• Supervision of teaching assistant.
• Administration of one or more discussion sections of honors introductory physics (15%).
• Additional discussion section and/or laboratory for an introductory class as required (40%).
• Other duties as assigned (5%).

Note:

This position is not eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in physics.
• Applicable training and/or experience related to the assigned job responsibilities.
• Ability to teach introductory physics courses at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Requirements

• University level teaching experience with introductory physics or related courses will be viewed favorably.

• Pay Range: $25,376 - $31,720 annually, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
