Position: Temporary or Casual Educational Psychology (FY 26 Continuous Posting)

Position Overview

The Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota has an occasional need for part‑time, temporary or casual employees. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the  academic year.

The work schedule is temporary in nature, meaning the employee is limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year. It can also be casual in nature, meaning the employee can work 14 or fewer hours per week. Employees working in this position are paid an hourly rate; temporary and casual employees are not eligible for retirement plans, health insurance, vacation, sick leave, or the Regents Scholarship.

This position is based on campus. Per UMN policy, work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager.

All positions will be with the programs and projects within Educational Psychology:

  • Counselor Education
  • Psychological Foundations
  • Quantitative Methods in Education
  • School Psychology
  • Special Education
Job Responsibilities

Support academic and/or research initiatives of the department (100%)

  • Work with faculty and staff on various teaching and research projects
  • Data collection when relevant to project goals
  • Use computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, University Box, Canvas, Adobe Acrobat
  • Comply with university required policies and procedures and complete required trainings as necessary
  • Meet with manager as needed, online as well as in‑person
  • Other duties as assigned, aligned to program/project needs
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or, high school equivalency), 2 years work experience, or lived experiences that align with project goals.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word/Excel and Qualtrics.
  • Ability to communicate with manager and team members over email, phone, and/or video conference.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and/or (dis) abilities, including teachers and students.
  • Attention to detail and autonomous worker.
  • Capacity to use and navigate digital applications (e.g., iPads).
  • Current driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with additional years of experience or advanced degree with experience in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated superior attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and be self‑directed
  • Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines

    Demonstrated excellent word processing and data entry skills
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: The hourly range for this position is $15.25 - $60.00 per hour. Final offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.

Time Appointment: 25%
