Job Title: Music Teacher

Supervisor: Academic Director

Job Summary: Provide classroom instruction in Music to K-8 students.

• Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives as well as the Minnesota state standards for music education.
• Plans, coordinates rehearsals for, and directs students in musical programs and performances outside the classroom.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by school procedures and applicable laws.
• Communicates with parents regarding the program goals, classroom activities and student progress.
• Provides a safe classroom environment for students.
• Collaborates with grade-level teams, administrators, and other staff to ensure the success of students.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• A valid Minnesota teaching license in classroom music.
• Successful elementary or middle school teaching experience preferred.

• Ability to implement creative and innovative teaching strategies.
• Good organizational skills.
• Flexibility relating to student and program needs.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Work cooperatively with parents as educational partners.
• Commitment to the philosophy that all children can learn.
• Commitment to teamwork within an educational setting.
