About the Job
The finance department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota (Twin Cities campus), is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Lecturer position starting in the Fall of 2026. The position is non-tenure track, nine month appointments, renewable annually subject to performance. There are two openings for this position.
Responsibilities- Teaching 18 credits over the nine-month academic year;
- Participating in efforts to evaluate and improve the finance curriculum;
- Advising students regarding course work and career interests.
Additional teaching with added compensation might be available for:
- Summer teaching;
- Teaching in Carlson’s international MBA programs;
- Teaching in Carlson’s Executive Education Center programs.
Teaching duties will consist of a variety of courses that might include undergraduate, MBA or MSF finance courses, offered in both large lecture and smaller case discussion formats. Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel is required. The relevant courses are offered in Carlson’s day, evening and weekend degree programs in the Twin Cities.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications: A terminal (PhD) degree and 10 years of related industry and/or academic experience, or a Master’s degree and 15 years of related industry and/or academic experience.
Preferred candidates are those with an MBA degree or a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics and 15+ years of related industry and/or academic experience. Related industry or academic experience provides the department with the ability to decide whether or not other degrees and/or certification programs (i.e., CPA, CFA, CPIM, etc.) will qualify an individual to be placed in a higher-level classification.

The Carlson School of Management’s Finance Department focuses on understanding financial decisions, markets and institutions. Faculty research in these areas is internationally known and has been published in the best finance and economics journals. The Department is committed to quality teaching at the Undergraduate, MBA, MSF and PhD levels.
Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $97,500 - $105,000, depending on education/qualifications/experience
