Secondary Art Teacher - Minnesota Connections Academy

Job Summary:

Minnesota Connections Academy (MNCA) is a tuition‑free, online charter school for K‑12 students throughout Minnesota, accredited by Advanc

ED and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. The position is based in St. Paul, Minnesota, with the possibility to work from home.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
The Art Teacher will manage instructional programs, consult with students, parents, and learning coaches, and support students in completing their instructional program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Complete grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences timely;
  • Support the instructional program with asynchronous web‑conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction;
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate lesson approaches to increase student understanding;
  • Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans, score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignment completion, and coach special projects;
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure students progress and tasks are distributed;
  • Develop general knowledge of the entire program’s K‑12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of the courses for which you are responsible;
  • Support students and parents with alternate strategies and additional assistance with daily assignments and projects;
  • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and curriculum specialists via computer and telephone;
  • Maintain student records and data, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance, and all contact logs;
  • Consult with other teachers and staff specialists to develop enrichment activities and program modifications;
  • Coordinate social activities, relevant field trips, and manage regional field trips to integrate into the curriculum;
  • Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”;
  • Participate in state testing organization and administration as directed;
  • Participate in student recruiting sessions and marketing efforts that require teacher representation;
  • Work with Advisory Teachers and School Counselor to ensure families receive appropriate communications and students meet established goals;
  • Attend field trips and community activities for families; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Highly qualified and certified to teach Art in Minnesota for the appropriate grade level and content area;
  • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Customer‑focused approach;
  • High degree of flexibility;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment;
  • Team‑player track record;
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel);
  • Ability to work remotely if necessary;
  • Ability to work some occasional evening hours as needed to support families;
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two‑step authentication.

Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated starting salary for Minnesota‑based individuals is $42,000–$57,000 per year. Benefits available to eligible employees can be viewed at
