This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
This position, under direction of the Site Development Unit (SDU) Supervisor, exists to provide SDU staff with delivering projects related to MnDOT facilities. The position will provide professional/technical landscape architectural support to Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) SDU; deliver professional expertise in areas of quality assurance and quality control in the review and delivery of MnDOT- and consultant-prepared construction documents.
It will provide project constructability, sustainability and cost-effectiveness related to the field of landscape architecture; manage projects, consultants, and overall delivery of MnDOT projects; provide technical site planning, preliminary and detailed site design, and preparation of construction documents.
It will oversee budget, project scoping and implementation, design development, and preparation of construction documents or the review of consultant-prepared construction plans, specifications, and cost opinion. This includes independently managing individual projects.
It will manage project teams and participate as a member of project design teams including partners outside MnDOT; review and provide comments on department-prepared and consultant-prepared design and construction documents; participate in project site meetings and virtual meetings including the preparation of meeting minutes; complete product research and site investigations; identify scan, name, and store key documents; and, provide experienced landscape architectural construction phase activities.
MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Exam for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be licensed as a professional Landscape Architect with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design or be able to obtain licensure through commodity.
AND
Three (3) years of advanced professional experience as a licensed Landscape Architect doing the following work:
- Experience with all phases of landscape architecture (e.g planning through conceptual studies, design and construction);
- Experience applying state, federal codes and guidelines governing landscape architecture sufficient to consult on design, bidding and construction, accessibility guidelines related to site projects, construction industry standards, standards during design, bidding and construction;
