Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a reputable non-profit organization in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to contribute your expertise to vital financial operations. The ideal candidate will excel in managing cash receipts, reconciling accounts, and investigating discrepancies with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Organize and batch daily cash receipts to prepare them for processing in the accounts receivable system.

- Input cash receipts into accounting systems and ensure daily totals are accurately balanced.

- Apply payments to invoices while investigating and resolving any discrepancies found.

- Conduct thorough research to identify missing payment information and resolve outstanding issues.

- Review unapplied cash reports, analyze discrepancies, and ensure proper allocation of funds.

- Process and analyze refund requests, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures.

- Manage branch banking cash receipt batching and research related transactions for accuracy.

- Review aging reports to identify trends and recommend actionable solutions for improvement.

- Perform detailed account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

- Support additional accounting tasks as assigned to meet departmental needs.

Requirements - Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts receivable.

- Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

- Proficiency in processing insurance checks is strongly desired.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software systems.

- Experience with Great Plains accounting software is a plus.

- Ability to handle large volumes of checks while maintaining attention to detail.

- Strong organizational and analytical abilities to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.

- Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking, to effectively collaborate with teams and clients.
